Square Enix, Lightspeed Studios Japan, and Tencent have officially announced the Final Fantasy XIV Mobile game for Android and iOS devices. The game will recreate the main story of Final Fantasy XIV while maintaining similar social systems and gameplay mechanics. The mobile game will launch first in China, starting with several demos and playtests, followed shortly by a global release. At this time, no specific dates have been announced for the tests. Pre-registration is already live. Remember, the console and PC version has the new patch 7.1 available. Check out the announcement trailer at the end of the news. Below is a statement from the producer and director of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, Naoki Yoshida:
It has been 11 years since the launch of FFXIV 2.0: A Realm Reborn, and this new mobile game will be a sibling to FFXIV, aimed at recreating the grandeur of the story and combat mechanics of the original on mobile devices. Features unrelated to combat, such as Disciples of the Land and Hand, will be faithfully implemented, and we look forward to growing together with the passionate FFXIV community.
Here’s an overview of Final Fantasy XIV from the official site:
Endwalker brings the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark to a conclusion. Unraveling its mysteries and overcoming its challenges will not be an ordinary task. However, in the shadow of their triumph, the Warrior of Light and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn are finally home. In their absence, an even greater threat than the brilliant oblivion has emerged, as seen in the events of the Last Days. Everyone is in despair, as a myriad of conflicts now ravage the land, making it impossible to foresee the end of life in the Source. This story – of a star and its souls – will see the Warrior of Light travel north to Sharlayan and east to Thavnair, forging a path to the heart of the Garlean Empire and ascending to the skies to set foot on the very same moon. The first major saga of Final Fantasy XIV is approaching its highly anticipated conclusion.
