Virtua Fighter: a new game in development confirmed

Justin Scarpone, executive vice president and head of the Global Transmedia Group at SEGA, recently stated in an interview with VGC that a new instalment of one of the most famous fighting game series, Virtua Fighter, is in development.
Scarpone shared these insights when asked about how to bring back classic SEGA IPs and connect lesser-known titles to the current generation:
“We have a series of titles in development that fall into this category, which we announced last year at The Game Awards: Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi and another Virtua Fighter in development. This is all very exciting. And in some cases, we’re also creating animated series or live-action films to enhance everything and be part of these roadmaps.”
No further details were provided. It’s worth noting that the most recent release in the series was Virtua Fighter V Ultimate Showdown, launched in 2021, which updated the fifth instalment that dates back to 2006.
