According to recent announcements, Microsoft is working on an Intel Core Ultra 200V Lunar Lake variant of its Surface laptops, and a prototype has surfaced in China. Now, a new report from WindowsCentral reveals that a Surface Laptop has made an appearance through an announcement on the Chinese retail platform Goofish, reportedly featuring Intel’s Core Ultra 7 268V SoC. Microsoft has begun testing the new Surface laptops, primarily the Surface Laptop 7 with Intel’s Core Ultra 200V Lunar Lake SoC, without changes to the design except for the CPU architecture.
The new laptop is expected to be released under the Surface Laptop 7 line, similar to the debut of Qualcomm’s chips, so not many changes are anticipated in the overall structure. Regarding the Goofish announcement, the Surface Laptop 7 is listed at around $2,600, with a configuration of 32 GB or 1 TB and featuring Intel’s Core Ultra 7 268V chip. As for the CPU, the Core Ultra 7 268V boasts eight cores (4P+4E), eight threads, 12 MB of L3 cache, and a base clock of 3.30 GHz, boosting up to 5.0 GHz. The SoC is equipped with an Arc 140V iGPU with up to 8 Xe2 cores running at 2.0 GHz, and the chip will have a TDP configured to 17W PL1 and 30W PL2, providing decent graphical performance but not substantial enough for high-end gaming on the laptop.
