Silent Hill 2 is finally here

The remake of Silent Hill 2, by Bloober Team and Konami, is finally available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The title has received an enthusiastic response from the press and the director of the original game. The remake expands the areas players can explore, introduces a over-the-shoulder perspective, revamps the combat system, and adds new cutscenes.

Here’s an overview of the game from the official PlayStation page:

After receiving a letter from his deceased wife, James heads to the place where they once shared so many memories, hoping to see her one last time: Silent Hill. Arriving near the lake, James encounters a woman who strikingly resembles her. “My name… is Maria,” says the woman with a smile. Her face, her voice… it’s identical to hers. Dive into the most acclaimed survival horror on next-gen hardware. Experience a unique psychological journey with chilling visuals and haunting sound effects.

Larger Environments

Explore locations and buildings that were previously inaccessible or have been added in the remake.
Enjoy the same iconic story while visiting the town of Silent Hill from a new perspective and on an expanded map.

Over-the-Shoulder Camera

The remake moves away from the fixed camera angles of the original, placing it behind the character’s shoulder and allowing you to see things from James’ perspective for a more immersive and thrilling experience as you explore the town and face off against monsters.

Enhanced Combat Gameplay

Familiar weapons like the steel pipe and handgun return, but with an updated combat system. Avoid attacks by dodging at the right moment, make use of targeting mode, and much more: encounters with monsters have never felt so engaging and terrifying.

Silent Hill 2 will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC starting October 8. Recently, a trailer featuring the boss fights was revealed. Stay tuned for more updates.
