Electronic Arts and BioWare announced today that two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer and Grammy Award winner Lorne Balfe have co-composed the official soundtrack for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the upcoming fantasy RPG set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, EA app, and Epic Games Store on October 31. The two legendary composers have collaborated on dozens of projects throughout their careers and have worked closely with the BioWare development team to create a soundtrack that celebrates the world of Thedas and its heroes.

Fans will be able to pre-order the official soundtrack album starting October 18 on iTunes and Amazon Music, followed by the official release on November 1. Additionally, to celebrate the announcement, the Main Theme of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been released as the first single from the official soundtrack and is now available for download and streaming on music apps like Spotify and iTunes. You can also listen to it in the video below, released by Zimmer himself.

Cody Behiel, audio director for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, stated:
“One of our goals for the music of Dragon Age: The Veilguard was to provide a strong connection between the world of Thedas and its various inhabitants. We wanted to ensure that throughout the game’s story, in both epic moments and intimate ones, players could feel their actions connecting with the personal relationships formed. Working with Hans and Lorne elevated these ideas to a level of emotional depth we didn’t think possible, and I’m genuinely excited for players to experience it.”

Zimmer, one of the world’s most renowned composers, has received numerous awards and accolades for his work in films such as Dune, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception, and many others. With over 100 film scores to his name, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is Zimmer’s first video game composition in nearly a decade.

Speaking about his work on Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Hans Zimmer said:
“Epic stories lend themselves to epic scores, and the narrative tapestry BioWare has woven in The Veilguard has never left me short of inspiration, both in the moments of brightest heroism and the darkest emotional depths. I’m proud to have shared with Lorne and the entire design team the journey of creating the musical backdrop for this new Dragon Age adventure.”

Lorne Balfe, a Grammy Award winner, has garnered over 170 credits as a composer in films, TV, and games, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and Beyond: Two Souls, all nominated for Best Original Music at the BAFTA Games Awards.

Balfe stated:
“The world of Dragon Age is an unprecedented immersive experience, and it reaches its peak in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Creating this soundtrack alongside Hans Zimmer allowed us to bestow new epic grandeur upon the realm of Thedas, elevating these characters and their stories to new heights. I can’t wait for people to play this game.”
