Arcane is a love letter to all the gamers and fans who have asked for more cinematic experiences to dive deeper into the worlds and champions of League of Legends. With an incredible global brand and a shared goal of producing high-quality content, Netflix is the perfect partner to help us bring Arcane to gamers worldwide.

Said Shauna Spenley, Global President of Entertainment at Riot Games.

The number of fans for Riot Games’ video games (and beyond) continues to grow, as shown by over 14 billion views of its videos globally, highlighting the brand’s expansion into pop culture (such as music videos from the virtual band K/DA). The 2020 League of Legends World Championship also set record viewership based on various metrics. Worldwide, audiences consumed over a billion hours of content, solidifying League of Legends’ position as the most-watched esports, with an average viewership of 23.04 million for the finals and a peak of 45 million concurrent viewers, whether fans of Arcane or not.

As for the legendary archaeologist, after the events of the Survivor saga, Lara Croft has left her friends behind to embark on increasingly perilous solo adventures. During her ambitious quest, Lara will face adventures around the globe and delve into forgotten tombs, where she’ll confront her true self and decide what kind of heroine she wants to become.

The original cast of Netflix’s new animated series includes Hayley Atwell (Lara Croft), Allen Maldonado (Zip), and Earl Baylon (returning as Jonah from the Tomb Raider video games). Additional voice actors will be announced soon.
