Black Myth Wukong by Game Science literally invaded the gaming market, with a high number of concurrent players on Steam (record for a single player game, and second place overall, at nearly 2.5 million players) and over 10 million copies sold across PC and PS5 in just the first 3 days. It’s not hard not to Wukong some credit for the new all-time record of concurrent players on the Valve platform goes to the action-RPG based on the famous Journey to the West.
On August 25 at 4:00 PM, the counter for concurrent players on Steam reached 37,262,364 players. At the time of writing, this is the top 5 of the most played games at the moment, with the predictable Wukong still at the top, and the surprising Banana still travelling in the top positions:
- Black Myth Wukong 1,897,370
- Counter-Strike 2 1,208,129
- Dota 2 595,087
- PUBG; Battlegrounds 507,415
- Banana 428,884
In stark contrast to these top titles, there is unfortunately one title that did not achieve great numbers: Concord, the hero shooter FPS by Firewalk Studios released by PlayStation, which since its launch has recorded a maximum of less than 700 players.
Here’s the graph showing the number of concurrent players on Steam, and the 37,262,364 peak on August 25 at 4:00 PM.
