The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power: featurette on Sauron

Prime Video presents a behind-the-scenes video from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, arriving on August 29 on the streaming platform. This second season tells of the anticipated siege of Eregion, a decisive battle in the history of Middle-earth’s Second Age by J.R.R. Tolkien, from which not everyone manages to survive. The banners are high, and the devastating war against Sauron has just begun. The first three episodes of season two of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be available for preview on August 29, followed by one episode per week until the exciting season finale on October 3.

In season two of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Sauron is back. Driven away by Galadriel, without an army or allies, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power. This will allow him to subjugate all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building upon the epic scope and ambition of the first season, this new chapter also immerses beloved and vulnerable characters in a growing wave of darkness. This challenges each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of disaster. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Hobbits… as friendships fracture and kingdoms begin to crumble, the forces of good will fight ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters most to them… staying united with one another.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the first time the heroic legends of the mythical Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama takes place thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. Transporting viewers to a distant era when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell into ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the thinnest of threads. The greatest villain ever to emerge from Tolkien’s pen threatened to plunge the entire world into darkness. Starting from a moment of relative peace, the series follows a group of characters, some already known, others new, as they prepare to face the dreaded return of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the elven capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island of the kingdom of Nmenor, to the farthest reaches of the map. These kingdoms and characters will establish a legacy that will endure well beyond their time.

The first season of The Rings of Power achieved unprecedented success, seen by over 100 million people worldwide, with more than 32 billion minutes of streaming.
