According to Windows Central, Microsoft has formed a new team within Blizzard to develop double A games based on existing IPs.
According to the report, this team mostly comprises former developers from King, one of the three studios that, together with Activision and Blizzard, were acquired last year: King is best known for Candy Crush. Among the clues reported by Windows Central is the fact that many developers have transitioned from King to Blizzard in recent weeks, and that Microsoft intends to leverage Blizzard’s extensive IP catalog as much as possible (from World of Warcraft, to Overwatch, as well as Diablo and Starcraft).
Given King’s great experience in the mobile sector, it is likely that Microsoft will target that market segment, aiming to support the anticipated mobile game store for Xbox on iOS and Android.
Of course, these are currently just rumors and, as such, should be taken with a grain of salt, while we await any confirmations or denials.
But speaking of the Microsoft world, we remind you that yesterday the details of the program for gamescom 2024 were presented, with the Xbox booth showcasing over 50 titles from Xbox Game Studios, Blizzard, and Bethesda.
