Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered spotted at San Diego Comic-Con

The San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) started last week and, while this obviously means that there will be many official and significant updates on various games in the coming days, the event usually also brings along stories that are not necessarily official announcements, but still capture attention. For example, it seems that evidence of a Remastered version of the Soul Reaver games has been spotted at the event. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 were action-adventure games developed by the Crystal Dynamics studio, creators of Tomb Raider, which have a considerable fan following, and despite high requests for a revival of the series, as of today the series has remained dormant for over two decades.

However, it appears that branding and a logo for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered have been spotted at SDCC, as shared by @Wario64 on Twitter, who tweeted images showing them. A Remastered version of the Soul Reaver games has yet to be officially announced. Whether this means that an official announcement is on the horizon remains a mystery. Crystal Dynamics has acknowledged the demand for the return of Legacy of Kain in the past, so the hope is that the studio is finally bringing the beloved series back into the spotlight.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was released in 1999, developed by Crystal Dynamics and directed by Amy Hennig, the former writer and director of the Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series. The 3D action-adventure game, in which players assume the role of the vampire Raziel on a quest for revenge to destroy his creator Kain, was critically acclaimed and received numerous sequels, with the last chapter of the series released in 2003. In the last decade, there have been numerous failed attempts to revive the series. Climax Studios (Silent Hill: Origins, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories), based in the UK, spent three years working on a sort of Remastered set hundreds of years after Soul Reaver.
