Warframe Developers Reveal 14th and 13th Generation Intel CPUs Responsible for Stability Issues

The creators of Warframe have presented their findings on Intel CPU instability issues, revealing that 14th and 13th generation chips are responsible for severe in-game crashes. It seems that the fiasco of Intel’s 14th and 13th generation CPUs has gone beyond individual communities, as game developers have started speaking out about how Intel’s Core i9 chips have massively bothered their user base. Just recently, we reported a revelation from Alderon Games, where the studio’s founder urged users to switch to alternative CPUs, such as AMD, to avoid game crashes and unstable performance. Now, the Warframe developers have revealed the percentage of Intel CPUs responsible for game crashes, and the situation is not looking good.

The Warframe developers have compiled data on various Intel CPUs, which showed the error code “nvgpucomp64.dll”, which is a NVIDIA driver error state, likely occurring when the processor is in a “power-hungry” state and is forcefully stressed. The data showed that Intel’s Core i9-13900K accounted for 29.5% of the game crashes with the error code, while the Intel Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF combined for up to 34% of the share. The remaining share is attributed to more models, such as the Core i7-14700K, but the common trend present is that the 13th and 14th generation CPUs were vulnerable to the issue.

Interestingly, a Warframe staff member also encountered the same error code and decided to debug the issue, finding that the crashes were associated with the integrated Intel CPU, as the error code refers to a state where the GPU “works very intensively on all CPU cores”, meaning the power consumption levels of the integrated processor were off the charts. To mitigate the issue, users have implemented the BIOS update recommended by Intel, which has helped to resolve the problem to some extent.
