The game designer Keiichiro Toyama recently revealed that while working with PlayStation, he had conceived a sequel to the cult horror title Forbidden Siren for PS2, which eventually became Slitterhead. Speaking with Denfaminicogamer, Toyama explained that during his time with Sony, he began to ponder what a sequel to Siren would be like with a large budget.
Sony wanted this title to be a triple-A game, so Toyama devised a high-budget game with a concept similar to that of Siren. He mentioned that one of the ideas led to the prototype of Slitterhead, which originated from the thought of “What if I made Forbidden Siren 3?”. According to Toyama, the series, in its cult status, was experiencing a resurgence in popularity that encouraged him to consider bringing it back.
Toyama said:
“It all started when I was working with Sony. At that time, the popularity of “SIREN” was on the rise again, so there was talk of creating a related project. However, the company wanted a AAA title”.
He then added:
“Lately, there are more and more games labelled as ‘horror’, but personally, I think that the horror genre and AAA game development do not mix well“.
Let’s remember that Slitterhead is available, released on November 8, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Epic Game Store and Steam.
