The Elder Scrolls Online: Update 44 now available on console

As of today, The Elder Scrolls Online Update 44 is now available for free on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. This update brings a range of improvements and additions to The Elder Scrolls Online, including new features for the PvP Battleground mode and the introduction of two new companions.

Update 44 for the base game is now available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, following its release on PC/Mac on October 28. Below, you can read more about the content included in this update:

Update 44 introduces significant changes to ESO’s fast-paced PvP mode, Battleground. In this update, Battleground will shift to two-team PvP matches instead of the traditional three. At launch, there will be two main match types available for Battleground:

  • 4v4 – A competitive mode between two teams of four players
  • 8v8 – A standard mode featuring power-ups and two teams of eight players

The classic 4v4v4 mode will no longer be available, but it may return in the future during special limited-time PvP mini-events. This new two-team format also introduces seven new maps where players can compete against each other.

To celebrate the launch of the new PvP Battleground mode, we are teaming up with content creator SypherPK and Alienware for an exclusive ESO Battlegrounds Brawl live event on twitch.tv/bethesda on November 20 at 6:30 PM CET, where SypherPK will join the ESO developers to face off against other players who think they can beat them in Battleground, with active Twitch Drops and other prizes to win. In the coming weeks, members of the ESO Stream Team will also showcase their PvP skills live.

Update 44 also introduces two new companions in ESO: Tanlorin and Zerith-var. Tanlorin, a high elf troublemaker, combines Soul Magic and Dragonknight abilities, while the stoic Khajiit Zerith-var wields the powers of necromancy. At launch, you can obtain both new companions for free if you are subscribed to ESO Plus or purchase them from the in-game Crown Store for Crown currency.
