A new series of leaks has surfaced online and was reported through the YouTube channel specialized in the saga, “Residence of Evil,” which shifts the narrative a bit regarding Resident Evil 9 compared to all the rumors that have emerged in recent months. The biggest news is that the new title in the series will no longer feature Chris Redfield as the main playable character, but rather the duo of Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine.
Given the length of the video and the plethora of information revealed (which we remind you are neither official nor confirmed by Capcom), we decided to summarize it in a list:
- The protagonists of Resident Evil 9 will be Leon and Jill
- Leon will have a different look, featuring some wrinkles, longer hair, and a beard
- Jill will have an outfit inspired by the Lost in Nightmares add-on
- Chris Redfield and Barry Burton will support the protagonists in some way
- The story will take place after the events of Resident Evil Village
- The setting will be an island where Eveline, the antagonist from Resident Evil VII, is secretly being mass-produced using Mother Miranda’s research
- The common enemies will be a mix of zombies and Ganados from Resident Evil 4
- There will also be a stalker-like enemy similar to Mr. X
The leaked details do not mention the presence of Claire Redfield, but that doesn’t mean she won’t appear in the game given the return of all these iconic characters. Clearly, all of this information should be taken with caution. Currently, we don’t know when the new Resident Evil 9 will be revealed, but at this point, it’s reasonable to think that Capcom will wait until 2025 before showing the world the new chapter of the legendary survival-horror franchise.
