Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3: “the team is working hard,” says director Naoki Hamaguchi

The director of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, Naoki Hamaguchi, mentioned on Twitter that the development team is deeply engaged in the title and is “working hard” to complete it. It’s worth noting that the early steps for the development of Part 3 of the remake began in 2022, and Square Enix aims for a release in 2027. In June, Hamaguchi expressed hope that the final chapter of the trilogy would offer “a different type of gaming experience” compared to Remake and Rebirth.

This upcoming chapter may also include content from the original game that was not part of Rebirth, such as Rocket Town, along with further integration of elements from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. Additionally, Hamaguchi indicated that the next game will likely feature a redesigned world to allow airship travel.

Here’s Hamaguchi’s message:

There are only two months left in the year. Last year, I was really happy to travel around the world and connect with the media and community through FFVII REBIRTH. Right now, we are working hard on development so that we can launch Part 3 as soon as possible.

Here’s an overview of Rebirth:

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, which tells the story of the RPG that redefined the genre through three distinct games. The iconic heroes Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, and Red XIII have escaped the dystopian city of Midgar and are now chasing Sephiroth, the vengeful swordsman from Cloud’s past who was thought to be dead. This new adventure can be enjoyed by all players, even those who haven’t played Final Fantasy VII Remake or the original PlayStation version. Explore a vast world with cinematic storytelling and high-quality, fast-paced combat.
