Call of Duty: the development system won’t change under Microsoft

During the latest quarterly earnings call, Microsoft announced that the Call of Duty series has successfully surpassed 500 million copies sold, while Call of Duty Black Ops 6, available on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, has emerged as the biggest launch in the franchise to date.

Activision has announced that the system and development structure for the Call of Duty series will not change now that the company has become part of Microsoft. In an interview with The Washington Post, Matt Cox, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Call of Duty at Activision, stated:

When you look at Treyarch and Raven, they have a history of collaboration within the Black Ops franchise dating back to 2010. You have this history with the people you work with, and that ultimately shows when it comes to the finished product from an editorial and marketing standpoint.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6

Here’s an overview of the title via Steam:

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is an electrifying spy thriller set in the early ’90s, a time of transition and political turmoil around the world, marked by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as the sole superpower. A gripping story with no respect for the rules of engagement: it doesn’t get more Black Ops than this. The campaign of Black Ops 6 offers varied and dynamic gameplay, featuring all kinds of settings, action-packed cinematic scenes, heists, and high-level espionage.
