Croc

Croc 3 could be considered, depending on the success of the remaster

In August, the remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, a platformer featuring the colourful crocodile Croc originally released in 1997, was announced. Just a few days ago, the platforms for its release were confirmed: Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC exclusively on GOG. There is currently no release date, but when responding to some users on X, the developers at Argonaut Games hinted that the project could have longevity, depending on how successful this remaster turns out to be. When asked about a possible Croc 3 and how it should be done, the developers indicated that a new chapter would be considered based on the success of the remaster of the first game and, in turn, of a potential remaster of the second game. They added that, if that were the case, they would design and create a game that incorporates the best elements from both previous titles while being contemporary and suitable for the market.

You can see the relevant posts on X below.

This post was in response to a tweet from Argonaut showcasing the Game Boy Color version of the first Croc and whether it would somehow be included in the remaster: it seems it won’t, but plans may be in the works:

“We were asked if Croc Game Boy Color could be an unlockable reward in the remaster. That’s not within our scope, but 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of Croc GBC, and #October is the perfect time to announce that plans are underway to celebrate the occasion appropriately.”

Let’s see what the future holds for our crocodile and his ker-splat!, and whether there will be a Croc 3 after the project was scrapped for the original Xbox. In the meantime, we await the release date for the remaster of the first Legend of the Gobbos.
