PlayStation Network: the service is back online

Throughout the morning, the situation steadily improved, though not all services were fully operational.

Now, however, things have returned to normal, with all online functions of the PlayStation Network back in full operation. Thus, we can confirm that the situation has resumed normalcy.

As evidence of this, in addition to the PlayStation Network status page which indicates that all services are “green lighted,” we also received an official message from Sony’s technical department:

“This issue has been resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers.”

Among the services that have returned to functionality, we find:

  • Account management (login and new account registration)
  • Games and social features
  • PlayStation Video
  • PlayStation Store

Update – It seems that the services related to “Games and social features” have gone offline again, as indicated by the PSN status page. This means that some online functions related to games may not be working properly. However, we are confident that the situation will return to normal within a few hours, as technicians are already working to resolve the issue.
