Embracer Group: 4A Games and Zen Studios remain under the Swedish holding company

Embracer Group has recently announced that the proposed sale of 4A Games, the development team behind the Metro series, and Zen Studios, known for its pinball games, has been cancelled.

These two studios were included as optional purchases in the $247 million sale of the Saber Interactive division to a group of private investors. Instead, the company received a payment of $168.4 million to settle the transaction with Saber and keep the studios in-house.

The two teams will therefore remain under Embracer, which has also indicated that 4A Games is currently developing two AAA titles. Here’s what Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer Group, stated in a press release:

“We are pleased with the conclusion of this transaction and very happy to see the great teams and resources of 4A Games and Zen Studios stay within Embracer. They will be important pieces of our ongoing journey. 4A Games is currently developing two AAA titles that we are excited to announce.”

He also added:

“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Matthew Karch [the founder of Saber, ed.] for his contributions over the years, and at the same time congratulate the Saber team on the successful launch of the iconic Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which will mark a great start for their new structure.”
