Africa Games Week, the leading event on the continent dedicated to showcasing and boosting the African gaming industry, will be held this year on December 2, 3, and 4 in Cape Town, the capital of South Africa.
Africa Games Week plays a crucial role in the African gaming ecosystem, providing a unique platform for local developers to connect with international publishers, younger studios, incubators, and industry leaders. The event features a wide range of activities, including workshops, an exhibition area, and a B2B matchmaking platform, all designed to foster collaboration and innovation within the industry.
Now in its 7th edition, it has established itself as the premier business event in Africa for the video game industry. Developers, content creators, and industry leaders come together from across Africa and around the world to connect, engage, and grow the African video game industry.
AGW co-founders Nick Hall and Rex Bowden initiated this event to shine a light on the emerging yet lesser-known African gaming industry by participating in events like GDC, GamesCom, Paris Games Week, and others. Realizing that the international gaming market had limited knowledge of the African scene, they envisioned an event in Cape Town that could unite African talents in video games.
