According to recent reports, AMD’s next-generation Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU, featuring Zen 5 cores and RDNA 3.5, will power new gaming laptops, enhancing both performance and battery life. At IFA 2024, several hardware manufacturers announced their new products, including Acer, which unveiled its new Nitro 7 handheld. As we know, it will be powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS, based on the Zen 4 architecture and RDNA 3.
As reported by Digital Trends, AMD plans to boost the performance of these laptops by releasing the Ryzen Z2 Extreme in the early months of 2025, as revealed in a joint Q&A session. Not only performance, but battery life is currently one of AMD’s top priorities. The ASUS ROG Ally/X and Lenovo Legion Go utilize the Z1 Extreme chip, which will likely be upgraded with the Z2 Extreme APU in 2025 if ASUS and Lenovo intend to launch new laptop models. Additionally, Zotac, Antec, and other manufacturers utilizing some Zen 4-based AMD APU could also introduce new editions with the Z2 Extreme.
