BioWare has published an in-depth look at the progression systems in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. In a blog post, accompanied by a series of videos, the studio explained in detail how the three main areas of progression work in the game: skills, items, and companions.
- Skill Tree
By reaching a maximum level of 50, the Rook will enjoy a unique play style, optimized for executing coordinated attacks with their companions. The greatest experience gains come from completing quests, with bigger and more significant missions offering greater bonuses. Rook also earns experience by defeating enemies and exploring, but levelling up is most effective when helping the inhabitants of Thedas or taking time to deepen Rook’s bond with the Veilguard.
- Items
There will be a plethora of gear to find or purchase throughout Thedas, including weapons, armour, and accessories. Each item will have its stats and properties. Regarding weapon and armour progression, item duplication allows for stat increases and the unlocking of additional properties.
- Companion
Rook’s companions are equally important to the player’s success in saving Thedas. Each member of the Veilguard will have their level, and each level gained grants them 2 skill points. Every companion will have quests to deepen their bond with Rook, which is one of the main ways to earn experience. Companions can also gain experience through unique conversations and decisions. These quests and relationships extend beyond romantic interests; platonic friendships are equally significant and central to the focus in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
As you watch the third video, we remind you that the game will be available from October 31 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, and we direct you to a previous video.
