Copycat: the release date of the game featuring the stray cat has been announced

It was known that it would be coming in September, but the exact day was still a mystery. Today, Spoonful of Wonder has announced the release date for Copycat, an adventure that follows the story of a newly adopted cat who falls victim to a clever scheme when a jealous stray copycat takes her place in the home. It will be available on Steam starting September 19. To celebrate the occasion, a new trailer has been released, which you can watch at the end of this article.

Here’s the game description from the Steam page:

Copycat is a narrative-driven indie game, perfect for a cosy afternoon in. It’s an intimate, magical, and hopeful Australian story that highlights the bond between humans and their pets in all its forms. The game’s colourful graphics delight the senses while exploring deep emotional depths.

We follow the story of Dawn, a sceptical cat who would rather be free than adopted again. Dawn believes she is a wild cat and plans to escape as soon as she gets the chance.

Dawn has a change of heart when she meets her new owner, Olive, an elderly and lonely Aussie mourning the loss of her beloved furry companion. Together, Dawn and Olive develop an intimate friendship as two broken hearts heal one another and learn to beat as one.

Everything changes when Olive falls ill and a stray copycat takes Dawn’s place, forcing her to go out on the streets.

Wandering through alleys, yards, and rooftops, you will learn the true meaning of home. The game’s reflective pace allows you to immerse yourself in the emotions of love, loneliness, and letting go as you progress through the story.
