According to some insiders, Black Myth Wukong is delayed on Xbox Series X and Series S not because of a supposed series of technical difficulties the studio faced with Microsoft’s console, but rather due to a secret agreement between Game Science and Sony orchestrated by the Japanese publisher.
Initially, the postponement of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox “to be determined” was attributed to (alleged) significant development issues. It was once again an insider who brought this to light. The official and unofficial reasoning was essentially that there were technical difficulties. According to sources, the Xbox build prepared by Game Science did not pass the initial QA stages. The studio chose to postpone it.
A whistleblower suggested that no reports of this kind (related to technical problems) were ever submitted to Microsoft. Therefore, the theory is that this may simply be an excuse to delay the release to a later date. The same source hints that the real reason could be an informal agreement sought by Sony.
Currently, there is no official trace of such negotiations. Neither Game Science nor Sony has made any statements regarding this matter. Thus, there remains a question of whether the idea of a secret agreement is merely speculation.
Released on August 20, the game has swiftly sold 10 million copies in just a few days. The success of Black Myth Wukong has overshadowed two other releases scheduled around the same time: Concord and Dustborn.
