One Piece Netflix: Katey Sagal to play Kureha and Mark Harelik to play Hiriluk

As announced yesterday by the original manga author Eiichiro Oda, new announcements regarding the casting of the second season of the live action series of One Piece will come in the next few days. The second season will take our heroes, in particular, to the kingdom of Drum. Today, we discover who will portray the two mentors of Tony Tony Chopper, namely Doctor Kureha and Doctor Harelik: Katey Sagal and Mark Harelik.

There has been quite a bit of sensationalism online regarding Kureha since the fan casting of Jamie Lee Curtis was well-received by both the production and the actress herself. However, she could not say yes due to prior contractual commitments that see her occupied on American Disney sets, while One Piece is currently filming in South Africa.

Sagal, however, is far from a second choice: just consider her experience and past roles (see Sons of Anarchy).

Mark Harelik is less known, but he is also highly experienced… and has a surname strangely similar to that of his character.

Based on the best-selling manga series in the history of Japan, written by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE is an unmatched legendary adventure set on the high seas. Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer always searching for a free life. Luffy leaves his village to embark on a dangerous journey in search of the legendary treasure ONE PIECE and become the King of the Pirates! However, to find the priceless prize, Luffy must recruit the crew of his dreams, find a ship, sail across the vast blue sea, evade the Marines, and outsmart formidable rivals.

Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) star in the live action pirate adventure ONE PIECE, created in collaboration with Shueisha and produced by Tomorrow Studios with Netflix. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements also serve as executive producers. The previously confirmed cast includes Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala.
