Mortal Kombat 1 Surpasses 4 Million Copies Sold

Warner Bros Games and NetherRealm Studios have recently announced that Mortal Kombat 1 has surpassed the impressive figure of four million copies sold worldwide. The first expansion for the game’s story mode will be released on September 24 and will be called Sovereign Chaos; in addition to a new story, six new fighters will also be added to the roster and the highly anticipated Animality.

Accompanying the announcement, a trailer dedicated to the expansion and the character Cyrax, has also been released. Mortal Kombat 1 is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Gamescom is taking place from the 21st to 25th in Cologne, Germany; and you can catch the Opening Night Live event held on August 20th.

There is no denying it, four million copies is an enormous figure considering that this chapter represents a sort of reboot for this legendary fighting saga, which has always competed with the Tekken, Soulcalibur, and Street Fighter franchises. At the moment, there is no information about the next chapter, but it is out of the question that some news regarding it might arrive during the German fair.
