The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power: Rufus Wainwright Sings Tom Bombadil’s Song

Prime Video gives us the opportunity to listen to the song of Tom Bombadil recorded by Rufus Wainwright for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, arriving on August 29 on the streaming platform. This second season tells of the anticipated siege of Eregion, a decisive battle in the history of Middle-earth’s Second Age by J.R.R. Tolkien, from which not everyone survives. The banners are raised, and the devastating war against Sauron has just begun. The first three episodes of the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be available in advance on August 29, followed by one episode a week until the thrilling season finale on October 3.

In the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Driven away by Galadriel, without an army or allies, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his cunning to rebuild his power and watch over the creation of the Rings of Power. The Rings will allow him to subjugate all the peoples of Middle-earth to his will. Building on the epic scope and ambition of the first season, this new chapter also plunges the most beloved and vulnerable characters into a growing wave of darkness. Challenged each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Hobbits… as friendships strain and kingdoms begin to crumble, the forces of good will fight ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters most to them… staying united with one another.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the first time the heroic legends of the mythical Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama takes place thousands of years before the events depicted in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The story takes viewers to a distant age when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell into ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the thinnest of threads. The greatest villain ever to emerge from Tolkien’s pen threatened to plunge the entire world into darkness. Beginning from a moment of relative peace, the series follows a group of characters, some already known, others new, as they prepare to confront the feared return of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elven capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island of the kingdom of Nmenor. These kingdoms and characters will build a legacy that will survive long beyond their time.

The first season of The Rings of Power achieved unprecedented success, seen by more than 100 million people worldwide, with over 32 billion minutes of streaming. The highly anticipated series captivated more than 25 million viewers globally on its first release day, becoming the biggest debut in the history of Prime Video. It debuted at No. 1 in Nielsen’s overall streaming charts on the weekend of release. Globally, the show also brought in more new Prime subscriptions than any other previously launched content. The season finale was a global cultural event with numerous hashtags dedicated to the series including #TheRingsofPower and others trending on X in 27 countries for a total of over 426 hours that weekend.

The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is produced by show runners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay.
