The coast of crime
Set amongst the beach clubs and palm trees of the Costa del Sol in the early 80s, A Town Called Malice follows the Lords, a crime family of petty thieves from South London, as they decamp from London to Spain to profit from an unexpected windfall – and to escape the attention of the police in a high-profile murder enquiry.

The Coast of Crime: New Sky Original Series by Nick Love

It is on the unforgettable notes of The Clash, Duran Duran, and AC/DC that the gangster story at the center of the new Sky Original series The Coast of Crime unfolds, arriving on August 16 exclusively on Sky (airing on Sky Atlantic) and streaming only on NOW. Created by Nick Love (The Business, The Football Factory, Bulletproof), this 80s action drama boasts a soundtrack, available in full on Spotify, filled with hits that made history during those years, from “A Town Called Malice,” the original title of the series by The Jam, to “Daddy Cool” by Boney M, from “Just Can’t Get Enough” by Depeche Mode to “Back in Black” by AC/DC.

Set in Costa del Sol in the early ’80s, the series tells the story of the Lord family, once powerful gangsters in London, who after losing their power in the city due to a violent gang clash, choose Spain as a place for redemption. Believing they can rebuild their reputation, the Lords begin to work towards their goal without looking at anyone, but neglecting a crucial detail: sometimes the enemy hides where you least expect it, perhaps right in the family…

The series stars Jack Rowan (Born to Kill, Noughts + Crosses) as Gene, the youngest son of the Lord family, and Tahirah Amandla Sharif (The Haunting of Bly Manor) as Cindy Carter, his untrustworthy girlfriend. The cast also includes Martha Plimpton (The Goonies), Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible 2, X-Men), Lex Shrapnel (Hunted, Infiniti), Daniel Sharman (Fear the Walking Dead, The Medici – Masters of Florence), and Eliza Butterworth (The Last Kingdom). A series produced by Sky Studios in collaboration with Vertigo Films and Rogue State Productions.
