DOOM + DOOM II

DOOM + DOOM II and all the Announcements from Quakecon 2024

During the livestream of QuakeCon, Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin from id Software took the main stage to announce the new and definitive combined reissue of DOOM + DOOM II, now available worldwide. The id Software team also announced the beta for DOOM Eternal mods, which will introduce official mod support to the award-winning shooter.

New reissue of DOOM + DOOM II

The two legendary titles have been enhanced and combined into a single product. Developed by id Software and originally published in 1993, DOOM was the game that launched and popularized the first-person shooter genre, setting a standard for all future titles. Its critically acclaimed sequel, DOOM II, followed in 1994.
The new definitive version of these combined titles – developed alongside Nightdive Studios – is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

These recently improved versions include:

  • Cross-platform online deathmatch and co-op for up to 16 players
  • Single-player mod support released by the community with an in-game mod browser
  • Optimized rendering
  • Accessibility options
  • Optional IDKFA soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult, selectable along with the original midi soundtracks, including the new IDKFA version of DOOM II
  • Improved performance with multithreaded rendering, supporting resolutions up to 4K and 120 FPS on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5
  • New episode “Legacy of Rust,” featuring new weapons and demons, created in collaboration by members of id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames

Those who currently own DOOM (1993) and/or DOOM II on any of the mentioned platforms will receive a free upgrade to the new combined game and will still have access to the previously owned versions.
