Do you know the saying “The Simpsons predicted it”? The cartoon created by Matt Groening and Sam Simon, now in its 35th edition, became famous for having inadvertently predicted various events and facts that later occurred in the real world. It seems that Larian Studio has faced a similar situation with Baldur’s Gate 3!
The writing director Adam Smith reportedly stated that at a certain point, the game from his studio had become so large and with so many possible branches that it constituted a problem for writing new events. “Every time we thought of something, we had to notice that it was something we had already done in Baldur’s Gate 3,” Smith reportedly said recently.
While this may seem like a funny problem at first glance, in practice, it could turn into a nightmare for Larian Studio. According to Smith, this means finding new activities for the next games in development at the studio. According to the writer, it is not advisable to re-present patterns, situations, and dialogues that players may have already seen in BG3. “We must constantly ensure that we are building a completely new experience,” Smith said.
Currently, the studio is engaged in the creation of two brand new RPGs. Initially, said Swen Vinkle, they were also considering making BG4. Then the idea was shelved to avoid forcing the devs on the same subject for many more years.
