The publisher 2K announced at the beginning of the year that Borderlands 4 is in development at Gearbox Studios, after announcing that it acquired the development company from Embracer Group for 460 million dollars. Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, speaking with GamesRadar, stated that Gearbox will soon release new information about Borderlands 4. Pitchford mentioned that he has never hidden, in previous statements, what the company has been working on.
Furthermore, the CEO of Gearbox let slip that a Dungeons & Dragons sequel and a spin-off inspired by Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are in the works. Borderlands 3 was released in 2019 and sold over 19 million copies, while Borderlands 2, released in 2012, surpassed 28 million units. As for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, it was released in 2022 and was a great success for Gearbox.
