ForeverEntertainment and Goblinz Publishing have announced the release date for Overboss, a retro-style strategic game inspired by board games, where the player takes on the role of the villain. The game, developed by BlanketGames and Brotherwise Games, will be available starting August 15 on PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. On this occasion, a new trailer has also been released, which you can watch at the bottom of the news.
Here is the game description from the Steam page:
You are a boss. You have always been a master of monsters, a dungeon builder, and a hero hunter. For many years, you have competed with other Bosses in contests of skill and wickedness. Now it is time to emerge from the underground world. It is time to shape a new land and bend it to your will. It is time to claim your crown as the ultimate OVERBOSS!
Each turn, you will draw a tile and a set of tokens from the Market. Place the tile in an open space on your map. Each type of terrain scores differently: swamps gain power points if they are adjacent to coasts and other swamps. Cemeteries provide a significant bonus for those who collect the most, while forests increase in power as more are collected.
Each tile comes with a token. If it is a monster or Miniboss token, place it on an open terrain tile. A monster with a matching icon gains a bonus point, and “bands” of monsters – lines of two or more – provide greater bonuses.
As you fill in the map, use Portals to move the monsters and Minibosses. Collect Crystals to multiply your power. With smart positioning and clever combos, you can build a truly powerful map. At the end of the game, the player with the highest score will be crowned OVERBOSS!
