Despite previous confusion regarding the status of the game, according to Ethan Gach, a journalist from Kotaku, a representative of the union has stated that the artists working on the game can continue to work on the project. At this time, it is unclear which actors are involved in the game, as, aside from fans trying to discover the voice actors for the two main characters of Grand Theft Auto VI, not much is known about the broader cast of the game.
Here are Gach’s words:
“BREAKING: A representative of the video game companies involved in the actors’ strike confirms that GTA 6 is NOT one of the currently affected projects under development.
All SAG-AFTRA actors involved (the casting is not currently public) can continue to work on the Rockstar game.”
The strike, called by SAG-AFTRA, the American actors’ union, began on July 26: it was initiated after the union failed to negotiate acceptable protections for the use of AI for its members. Last September, SAG-AFTRA members had approved a strike authorization in case the union failed to secure what they deemed acceptable conditions during the negotiation of the Interactive Media Agreement.
Below is the post on X by Ethan Gach, reminding you that the game’s first trailer recently surpassed 200 million views.
NEW: A rep for the game companies involved in the actors strike confirms that GTA 6 is NOT one of the struck projects currently in development.
