No Rest for the Wicked (find our review here) by Moon Studios has received its first major content update after entering early access, focusing on the new Crucible of Cerim. Additionally, this update has tripled the number of random rooms within the Crucible, introduced a brand-new graphical theme, added an entirely new merchant, and implemented a brand-new gameplay system called Echoes. Take a look at the Crucible presentation trailer below.
Echoes allow each exploration to be customized with a vast array of bonuses and effects, offering endless possibilities to tailor your setup. Thanks to Echoes and their randomness, every exploration in the Crucible will always be different. The Crucible is a dark and dangerous place, but underground there is someone who can help us. An ancient being called the Seneschal. Its significance and past identity remain a mystery. The further you advance in the Crucible, the more vespers-seeds you can give to the Seneschal, and in return, it will unlock new features.
The Vespers are a new group of enemies found in the Crucible: they are lost souls that have been infected by the Pestilence in the deep, damp caves of Sacra. Some have lost their way, others have been trapped underground or buried alive, but all of them now glow with a kind of corrupted bioluminescence. You can check out the complete notes here.
Below is an overview of the title via Steam:
You are part of the Cerim, a group of mystical sacred warriors endowed with extraordinary powers who have sworn to defeat the Pestilence at all costs. However, the task will become increasingly arduous as you experience the people’s suffering and the numerous political struggles in this oppressed land.
