With Summer Game Fest 2024 behind us (see you next year for Geoff Keighley’s pre-summer event), our attention is already focused on gamescom 2024, the summer industry fair that will be held in Cologne (Germany) as every year. This year’s dates for the event are as follows: from Wednesday, August 21 to Sunday, August 25.
While waiting to know the date and time of the gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live (a live presentation also hosted by Geoff Keighley), we have already received some confirmations about publishers that will be present at the German fair:
- Ubisoft has announced its participation well in advance
- THQ Nordic will participate in the fair bringing 5 games, 2 of which have not yet been announced
- The company Aerosoft will also be present with its simulators
- The first gameplay of Monster Hunter Wilds will be shown in August, with Capcom’s title also being playable by attendees
- Xbox will be present in Cologne this year as well. The American company has also announced part of its lineup
- HoYoVerse has also announced its participation in the European event, bringing its complete lineup: Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero
- NetEase Games will be at gamescom 2024, with two unannounced titles
- Bandai Namco won’t miss this year either, announcing an impressive lineup: Little Nightmares 3, Unknown 9 Awakening and especially Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO
That said, this year’s attendances are counterbalanced by notable absences:
The first absence from Gamescom 2024 is easily stated: it’s Nintendo. The Japanese publisher announced last April that it will not be attending the German event. Therefore, those who decide to go to Gamescom this year, whether they are industry journalists or gamers, will not find any stands or gaming stations belonging to the big N.
Sony Interactive Entertainment also announced in advance its absence, confirming that we will not see any first-party PlayStation titles in Cologne. However, there will obviously be PlayStation games showcased by third parties on site!
