After five years of life for The Division 2, developer Massive Entertainment is trying to include some significant changes to the shooter, although it seems that not all of them will be implemented in the way the studio had hoped. Last month, Ubisoft revealed that in the future, The Division 2 would reset players to the base level at the start of each season, allowing for the distribution of content to both new and veteran players.
However, this was a controversial change among many players and, after a strong negative reaction from the community, Massive Entertainment has decided to backtrack. On Twitter, the developer confirmed that, based on player feedback, it has decided not to proceed with seasonal characters as planned. Here is the statement:
After thorough review and discussions with the team, we have decided to re-evaluate Season 2.0 with a particular focus on seasonal characters with the goal of progressing without them. This change will have no impact on the previously announced Year 6 plans, but will allow us to assess the necessary changes to the new Seasonal Experience, which will integrate with Year 6 Season 2 this Fall. Once we have ironed out the finer details, we will come back with more information, a live stream, and a public test server.
